Strengthening an Urban Community Through Adaptive Reuse

How can vacant, multistory buildings be revitalized to address the needs of an urban community? This capstone proposes that the adaptive reuse of urban buildings with improved aesthetics and mixed-use functionality aims to enhance community engagement and safety by increasing the presence of residents and activities. The creative design incorporates residential units, a pedestrian-friendly ground floor featuring a market and versatile food counter, and transforms the adjacent alley into a lively piazza. Through these diverse tenancies, this project aims to establish a safe and interconnected urban environment.
